Hills lived in South Dakota

Kalle and Aatami Suihkonen moved to America and they lived in South Dakota (Butte or Lawrence counties). They started to use Hill name, thus they became Charles Hill and Adam Hill in South Dakota.

Charles or Chas Hill (Kalle Suihkonen), born April 23, 1867 at Suonenjoki, Finland. His brother Adam Hill (Aatami Suihkonen), born July 14, 1872 at Suonenjoki.

Charles Hill is first mentioned in 1915 South Dakota census and in 1920 US Census. He was married and living in Horse Creek, Butte, SD, wife's name Salma, age 45, born in Minnesota. Then in 1930 census: Selma Hill, widowed, head of household, her father and mother born in Sweden, son Harley age 16 living in the same household.

Mamie Hill in 1915 SD Census: was a chamber maid, and lived in Lead, Lawrence county,SD. Future husband Herman Kulpakko, age 20, miner, living in Lead. The Kulpakko's are originally from Northern Finland. Mamie Kulpacka died on January 26, 1990, she was 95 years old and lived in Pennington, SD. Mamie is buried next to her husband Herman Kulpacka in Black Hills National cemetery, same cemetery as Harley Hill. Herman Arthur Kulpaca died 1967 and he was US Army veteran.

George Hill got married in 1920, wife Vivian Boe. They lived in Newell, Butte, SD. Their children Jack, Caroll, and Rae Lois. Information on about Rae Lois Davies (Hill) who died 2002, in Wenatchee, Chelan County, Washington, USA

Garnet Hill graduated in 1928, Graduate of Newell High School

According to the US census, Harley Hill lived in 1940 as brother-in-law in husehold of Herman Kulpacs (Kielpaca), and Mayme Kulpacs (Kielpaca),in address on Julius Street, Lead, SD. Harley Hill born 1913, died 2000 in Fall River county, Hot Springs, SD. He was in the US Navy and he is a WWII veteran. Harley Rueben Hill is buried Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, South Dakota

In 1900 census Adam Hill,born 1872 in Finland is living full board in Matt Matson household, in Lead, Lawrence, SD, he immigrated in 1899. In 1920 census Adam Hill, is unmarried and living in Horse Creek, Butte, SD, in the same household is also George Hill, age 20 (Adam's nephew). Adam got married in 1924 to Amanda Josephine Stonelake and adopted her children Reuben Stonelake and Helen Stonelake.
